SUMMARY:Let’s Take a Crash Course on Understanding how to Read an IEP - webinar
DESCRIPTION:Please join Parent to Parent of NYS\, Namita Modasra\, Education Advocate for this training on Let’s Take a Crash Course on Understanding How to Read Your Child’s IEP. Does your child have an IEP (Individualized Education Program)? We’ll walk through the different sections of the IEP and discuss how to advocate for supports to make sure the IEP reflects your child’s abilities and needs. Because states and local school systems may include additional information\, forms differ from state to state and may vary between school systems within a state. The IEP\, Individualized Education Program\, is a written document that’s developed for each public-school child who is eligible for special education. The IEP is created through a team effort and reviewed at least once a year. This training will teach you how to read the IEP so you can understand what should and can be in the IEP. If you are a Parent\, Grandparent\, Family Member or guardian then this training is for you! \nREGISTER HERE.

SUMMARY:4TH ANNUAL WNY FAMILY ENGAGEMENT CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION:Evidence shows when families\, communities and schools work together\, students are more successful and the entire community benefits. \nKeynote Speaker:  Hasan Davis\nFor more than 25 years\, Hasan has held to the belief that each child can and will succeed as long as adults in their world create hope. Starting as a counselor and a teaching artist\, and through his years as a youth development specialist\, Hasan has transformed the attitudes and strategies of school and facility staff\, parents\, and members of the community to help hundreds of children graduate from high school and go on to earn degrees from colleges and universities. \nIn addition to his work at schools\, Hasan has been Commissioner of Juvenile Justice for the Commonwealth of Kentucky\, Vice Chair of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice\, and an organizational consultant. With this experience\, he has transformed organizations and public systems to ensure they have the capacity to not only meet the needs of the children and families they serve\, but also are transparent and set metrics and methods of accountability. \nHe brings to the process a powerful combination of passion\, caring\, and leadership to craft a refreshing\, common-sense roadmap to help all youth achieve their dreams\, no matter the odds. \nAfternoon Speaker:  Antoine Johnson\nAntoine is currently a Fatherhood Practitioner whose work involves providing interventions and services to low-income fathers and families in communities throughout Western New York. The focus of his work is to help close the gap in disparity of services available to men and fathers and reduce the number of father absenteeism homes for the one in four children who grow up without a father. His experience and expertise have prepared him to undertake action-oriented\, policy-relevant\, and community-engaged activities in order to drive improvements in the health of communities he serves. \nEarly Bird Registration: $100.  Registration After November 17th: $150.  For 4 or more attendees\, please call 716-800-2120 for a group rate. \nTarget Audience:  School Administrators\, Educators\, Early Childhood Providers\, Community Agencies\, School Staff\, Health Care Providers\, Mental Health Providers\, and Clinical Staff. \nNovember 29th\, 2023 from 8:30 AM — 3:30 PMLocation:  M Hotel Buffalo\, 2040 Walden Ave.\, Cheektowaga\, NY 14225 \nTo Register:  wnyfamilyengagement.org

SUMMARY:Nurtured Heart Approach – 4 Part Series – HYBRID
DESCRIPTION:Nurtured Heart Approach – 4 Part Series – Hybrid \n\nAre you frustrated by behavior challenges that put your child in control of your home?\nHave your discipline methods stopped working?\nDo you want your children to have good morals\, be compassionate\, and be self-confident?\n\nThe Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) is a language-based approach that can help you regain focus and power and rebuild the love you want in your home. NHA teaches us why our typical parenting methods don’t always work and can even make things worse. The magic rests in its ability to use language to build “inner wealth” and to make positive connections to those around us by focusing on what IS working\, at all times. \nYou will learn how to hold clear limits and consequences while you build positive connections. You will immediately FEEL the difference in your home\, and in time\, you\, your children and your family learn to flourish. \nThe approach is valid for all ages and types of relationships. It is effective for behaviorally and emotionally challenged children (ADHD\, ODD\, ASD\, Attachment\, etc.) as well as typically developing children. You will leave this series with clear techniques and strategies to face the behavioral challenges that brought you in. \nThe approach has much proven success in homes\, schools\, human service agencies and businesses all over the world. We look forward to seeing you Transform!! \n(No prior reading is required) \nPRESENTER:  JOE CLEM\, MA\, LMFT\, BCBA and NHA ADVANCED TRAINER \nA positive psychology\, family systems\, Behavioral Therapist who has worked closely with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to understand\, reduce and transform challenging behavior and heal the emotional issues which often occur in the family. \n*Certificate of completion available upon request* \nDates for the four-part series are November 29\, December 6\, December 13\, and December 20 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.\nREGISTER HERE!
