DESCRIPTION:What is WNY iCan Bike?\niCan Shine Bike Camp uses adapted bicycles\, a specialized instructional program\, and trained staff to enable individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheeled bicycle.\nRiders attend one 75-minute session each day for five consecutive days where they learn to ride while accompanied and encouraged by volunteer “spotters”. Over the course of the week\, we continually adjust the bikes in an effort to challenge riders appropriately as they gradually discover the skill and joy of riding. \nWe are happy to announce we will be having a bike camp from June 26- June 30\, 2023 at Niagara Frontier Sports.\nRegistration is now open! Scroll down or visit our “Rider Registration” tab to register! \nAre you a rider?  To register for the camp\, participants must meet the following criteria: \nHave a diagnosed disability.\nBe at least eight years old.\nHave a minimum inseam of 20 inches.\nWeigh less than 220 pounds.\nBe able to walk without assistive devices.\nBe able to side-step quickly.\n​Be able and willing to wear a properly fitted helmet. \nRegistration is now open! She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and won multiple best papers (top 1%) and best paper honorable mentions (top 5%) at ACM SIGCHI conferences. She has been awarded $4.72 million in external grant funding\, including the NSF CAREER Award\, and her research has been featured by popular news media outlets\, including ABC News\, NPR\, Psychology Today\, and U.S. News and World Report. DESCRIPTION:The next public meeting of the Autism Spectrum Disorders Advisory Board will be held in person at the Empire State Plaza\, Meeting Room 1 in Albany and virtually via WebEx on Monday\, July 31\, 2023 from 2pm–4pm.\n\nMeeting information including the WebEx link can be found on the OPWDD website here: https://opwdd.ny.gov/event/autism-spectrum-disorders-advisory-board-meeting-9. \n \nThe Autism Spectrum Disorders Advisory Board was created in November of 2016 to help provide guidance and information to New York policymakers\, individuals with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis (ASD)\, and families seeking reliable information regarding available services and supports.\n \nThe Members of the Board are tasked with several important duties including: \n\n\nstudying and reviewing the effectiveness of supports and services currently being provided to people diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders;\n\n\nidentifying legislative and regulatory activity which may be required to improve existing service systems that support people diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders;\n\n\nidentifying methods for improving interagency coordination of services and maximizing the impact and effectiveness of services and agency functions; and\n\n\nother matters as deemed appropriate by the Board.
