About the Webinar: Effective advocacy by both practitioners and caregivers is essential to meeting the unique needs of children with autism. It is also critical that we support self-advocacy by the individual. This 30-minute webinar will help both practitioners and caregivers develop a framework for creating a collaborative approach, in which the child’s needs can be met.
Learning Objectives:
• Participants will learn effective ways to advocate for children with autism.
• Participants will learn how to support advocacy by caregivers or the individual with autism.
• Participants will learn strategies for creating a collaborative environment in which the needs of the child come first.
Presented by Rebecca Meyer, M.S., M.S.W., The Summit Center
Rebecca Meyer has a master’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience and a master’s degree in Social Work. She has conducted and published research in the neurobiological substrates of addiction and worked as a Clinical Medical Social Worker at the University of Michigan Hospital. She is currently working in Behavior Support and Social Work at The Summit Center. She is passionate about advocating for the students, staff, and caregivers she serves.
