Transition: Life After School for Individuals with ASD ———Rising Like the Phoenix

Part 1:  Transition- Life After School for Individuals with ASD  – Amanda Cleesattel, M.S., OTR/L will speak about the transition from school settings to career/vocational settings.   She will speak discuss supports that assist with transition including ACESS-VR  snd clinical and related supports.    She will provide a better understanding of  person centered supports and what clinicians, teachers and families can do to not only provide support during this pivotal time but make the transition to adult life as smooth as possible.

Part 2:  Rising Like the Phoenix  – Laura Nadine.  Laura is a musician, self published author, blogger  and individual with Aspergers.  .   Laura will share “10 Points to Consider” based on her own experiences as an  person with ASD, a parent, and as a music teacher of children and adults on the Autism Spectrum.    1) Presume competence 2) Learn the power of perseverance 3) Autism is not a static disability – Teaching should continue to evolve.    Her triumps are inspirational as is her message of empowering people with ASD  to self-advocate and make informed choices about their future.

 

Cost:   $12 for parent/family member/ Individual with ASD

$38 for SLP, OT, PT with CEUs.

$28 for other professionals/ students.
